MediThread
If you have been looking into skin lifting or tightening, you may have heard of MediThread. This is a safe approach to helping to rejuvenate and tighten sagging facial tissue. In addition, clinical tests of this procedure show that it has three major benefits; contracting fat tissue and tightening skin, instantly lifting the skin, and promoting the production of collagen. If you think that you may be a candidate for MediThread, contact Changes Plastic Surgery & Spa today to schedule your consultation.
How Does the Procedure Work?
MediThread is considered a minimally invasive procedure. It is designed to work in areas of the face, including the nasolabial folds, lips, eyelids, neck, eyebrows, and glabella. The procedure utilizes needles that are already loaded with the MediThread synthetic absorbable suture. The targeted approach can immediately help to lift the skin when it is injected, and it also begins to promote the production of collagen. Over the course of four to six months, the sutures will dissolve, and your skin will have fully absorbed the threads. Additionally, this approach does not leave any additional scarring in the targeted areas.
The treatment does not involve having to make any cuts and only involves the injection sites. Once the injections are complete, they help to increase new collagen and promote microcirculation, which can aid in the healing process. In addition, the threads also help to promote the contraction of fat cells in the targeted area, which can also tighten the surrounding skin.
What to Expect During the Procedure
The actual injections implant the threads at the target site. The threads contain tiny barbs that help to anchor them in place. The threads are then contoured to your skin to produce the look that you want. Once the threads have been properly contoured, the excess thread is cut off and disposed of. The typical treatment for our patients takes between 15 and 30 minutes, meaning that it can be completed over the course of your lunch break.
There may be some discomfort during the procedure that is caused by the injections themselves, but this is typically minor and does not cause any lasting painful effects.
When Should You See Results?
Some of the effects of your procedure are immediately visible. The results should continue to improve over the next few weeks as collagen production increases. Six months after your procedure, the threads should have completely dissolved, but the results will continue to last between a year to 15 months after your initial procedure. If you were happy with your results, you can schedule an additional appointment at this time and have the procedure repeated.
Who is a Candidate?
MediThread is considered safe by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and they can be used for just about any patient. If you want to tighten or lift the skin and add a more youthful appearance to your face, MediThread is right for you. However, it is important to ensure that your provider is properly trained for the procedure. At Changes Plastic Surgery & Spa, we specialize in the application of MediThread and have a long history of successful procedures.
Special Considerations
MediThread does involve injections into your skin. Any time that a medical procedure breaks the skin, there is a risk of infection or damaged tissue. There are some minor side effects associated with the procedure but only include mild bruising, swelling, or soreness. These symptoms typically resolve within a few days.
