Improving Facial Contours with Facial Implants
Balance and proportion are two of the most distinct characteristics of facial beauty. These characteristics are illustrated by high, defined cheekbones, a smooth, seamless contour of the lower lid and cheek, and a pronounced yet proportional chin, which help to give the face attractive angles and contours.
If you weren’t born with these facial features, they can be achieved through the use of facial implants.
Depending on the patient’s needs, often times facial implants are used in conjunction with another cosmetic procedure such as facelift, eyelid or nose surgery and/or non-surgical methods, such as dermal filler injections around the mouth, to give the most balanced effects. Unless the implant is removed, these results are permanent.
Facial implants can easily be simulated using Vectra 3D Computer Imaging. Your consultation will include 3D imaging which will allow you to see the outcome prior to actual implant placement.
Cheek Implants (Malarplasty)
Despite a skillful use of cosmetics, it is difficult to create contours where there are none. A permanent way to achieve high and pronounced cheekbones are through the use of cheek implants.
Cheek Implants (Mentoplasty)
Chin implants are usually inserted through a small incision made under the chin. As with all incisions, there will be some bruising and swelling. For most patients, these only last for a few days after surgery, with a very small incision scar.
Tear Trough Implants
Tear Trough Implants are used to correct a condition known as tear trough deformity and/or to eliminate dark circles under the eyes. A tear trough deformity is a deep indentation between the eye and the nose. Some people have tear troughs naturally (see Negative Vector Orbit), while others develop them with aging. Either way, it creates a dark shadow which is cosmetically distracting. A Flowers Tear Trough Implant inserted under the eyes will augment the cheekbone (infraorbital rim) and eliminate the shadowing. This is the most lasting and predictable treatment for tear trough deformity.
